Why Grounded Exists

Our Vision

Childhood has changed. Children have fewer opportunities for unstructured play, meaningful exploration, and connection with the natural world. Grounded Child Development Society exists to help reverse that trend. Through advocacy, partnerships, and community initiatives, we work to create environments where children can follow their curiosity, build resilience, develop independence, and access nature-based experiences that support healthy development.

Our Focus Areas

Protecting and restoring the conditions that allow childhood to flourish.

A More Grounded Childhood

Promoting free play, independence, and child-led exploration.

Expanding access to meaningful outdoor learning experiences.

Working alongside schools, families, and organizations.

Creating opportunities for more children to connect with nature.

Building healthier, more resilient futures for children.

Children spend much of their day moving from one structured environment to another. We believe they need more opportunities to explore, create, take appropriate risks, and develop independence through meaningful experiences in nature.

Current Opportunities

Grounded Child Development Society is actively recruiting individuals who believe in the power of play, child-led learning, meaningful outdoor experiences, and healthy childhood development. As we expand our programs, partnerships, and advocacy efforts, we are seeking passionate people who want to help create stronger, more resilient childhoods across Nova Scotia.
